It is official now, US President – Barack Obama has accepted the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s solicitation to be the chief guest at India’s 66th Republic Day celebrations in coming January, 2015.

The White House stated that it will be the first visit by a US President as a Chief Guest at Republic Day to grace and the magnificent celebrations at Rajpath. It said that President Obama would meet PM Modi and Indian officers “to strengthen and expand the US-India strategic partnership.”
Formerly this month, Mr. Narendar Modi met with US President Obama at an East Asian summit in Myanmar and a deal was struck there to sanction a WTO trade deal that India had stalled over concerns that its food subsidies to the poor could face legal challenges. The president had admired Mr. Modi as “a man of action”.
